KIM is a Chicago-based musical collective that brings together jazz, funk, soul, rock, hip-hop, and other influences without being confined to a single genre. Built around the energy of live performance, KIM is about creating music that moves; creating a shared experience between the musicians on stage and the people in the room. At the heart of the collective is the idea of Keepin' It Movin': movement in the physical sense, knowing when to move forward from situations that no longer serve us, and continuing toward our goals regardless of the obstacles along the way. Those ideas live within the music, but they also extend beyond it.
KIM is intentionally collaborative. There is no single bandleader at the center of the group; each musician brings their own voice, personality, and perspective to the collective. The result is music shaped by interaction; listening, responding, taking chances, and creating something together in real time. The lineup can evolve, and so can the music. What remains constant is the intention: connect, move, and keep it movin'.
