Uzazi, meaning birth in Swahili, is an exploration of origin, identity, consciousness, and the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in jazz while drawing from a broader musical and spiritual vocabulary, the album reflects on the forces that shape who we become; and the deeper question of what exists beneath all of those influences. Recorded with a group of musicians whose individual voices are central to the music, Uzazi moves between composition, improvisation, tension, and release. At its core, the album is both a personal reflection and an invitation to look inward; toward the source from which everything begins.
Bassist. Producer. Arranger. Creative.
Jeremiah Hunt is a Chicago-based bassist, composer, producer, arranger, and multidisciplinary creative whose work moves freely across jazz, soul, funk, groove-based music, and contemporary creative expression. For more than a decade, he has built a career rooted in collaboration, exploration, and the belief that music is as much about connection as it is about sound.
As a bassist, Jeremiah has established himself within Chicago's music community through performances, recordings, original projects, and collaborations with artists across a wide range of musical settings. His work as a producer and arranger extends that same approach beyond the instrument; shaping ideas, developing musical environments, and helping bring a larger creative vision into focus.
His work is also connected by Keepin' It Movin', a broader mantra built around movement in its many forms: moving physically, knowing when to move forward from what no longer serves you, and continuing toward your goals despite the obstacles along the way. Whether through music, collaboration, or other creative projects, the idea remains the same: keep moving, keep evolving, and keep creating.
Beyond performance, Jeremiah works closely with artists to shape the musical identity of each project. From developing arrangements and refining performances to bringing musicians together, his role as a producer is centered on transforming ideas into cohesive recordings that feel honest, expressive, and deeply connected.
Every arrangement begins with listening. Jeremiah creates musical frameworks that support each artist's vision while allowing every instrument to contribute with purpose. His work balances structure, creativity, and emotional expression to give every performance its own character.
