Timucua Amplifies Black Voices 2026

Event Summary

Timucua Amplifies Black Voices - Jazz Series: K.I.M. (Keeping It Moving) is a dynamic, genre-fusing band led by Chicago-based bassist and musical visionary Jeremiah Hunt. The name says it all—“Keeping It Moving” is more than a mantra; it’s a mission. Whether you’re navigating life’s twists and turns, pushing through emotional roadblocks, or powering through a workout, K.I.M. brings the soundtrack to your momentum.

Rooted in the rhythmic soul of Chicago, K.I.M. weaves together a bold tapestry of styles—jazz, funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, rock, and beyond—blurring boundaries and reimagining what modern fusion sounds like. The band thrives on spontaneity, groove, and storytelling, creating music that is both deeply personal and universally relatable. At the heart of K.I.M. is the belief that movement is survival—physically, emotionally, creatively. Each performance is an invitation to journey forward, to heal, to dance, to reflect, and to grow.

Whether in the studio or on stage, K.I.M. channels the raw energy of life into genre-defying compositions that keep audiences on their feet and in their feelings. Jeremiah Hunt’s basslines anchor the group with purpose and soul, driving a collective of versatile musicians who each bring their own voice to the mix. The Souls of Black Folk

The Souls of Black Folk

Performance Run Time: 60–70 minutes, no intermission.
Accessibility Services Available: ASL interpretation

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Angel Bat Dawid is joined by the BLK Infinity Ensemble and D-Composed for a remarkable contemporary jazz experience — fusing music, history, and cultural expression.

The Souls of Black Folk Suite honors and explores the enduring relevance of W. E. B. Du Bois’s seminal work, The Souls of Black Folk, through a contemporary lens. The suite is a 14-movement work that sets to music the profound themes articulated in each chapter of Du Bois’s 1903 treatise, drawing on the rich traditions of Black music and culture. It will serve as a cultural ritual, engaging audiences with a blend of original compositions and traditional sounds.

A world premiere by an all-star Chicago lineup, the work explores themes that remain as potent today as they were more than a century ago.

KIM - Mixolydian

NEW HARLEM OF THE SOUTH

Mixolydian is an intimate jazz listening room where the spirit of Southern hospitality meets the sophistication of classic jazz. Intentionally intimate, the space creates an environment where both the music and the meal are given the attention they deserve, each enhancing the other in a carefully curated experience.

Located in Jacksonville, Florida, we hope to create a space that not only highlights the rich history of jazz in our own backyard—by way of LaVilla, a historic neighborhood celebrated for its deep jazz and Black cultural legacy—but also engages audiences and jazz musicians from around the world.

With just 10–12 seats per show, every performance is designed to feel personal and profound. Guests enjoy a three-course Southern-inspired dinner prepared in-house, followed by a live jazz set that invites deep listening and emotional connection. Performances are livestreamed with high quality picture and sound for growing a global online audience, to expand Mixolydian’s reach while preserving its intimate, living room feel.

This is not background music. It’s a return to the art of listening. Mixolydian is where world-class musicians meet attentive audiences, where storytelling through song is savored, and where community is built one set at a time.
